Davi Merchan is an Emmy-nominated, award-winning journalist and documentary filmmaker. She is currently a Segment Producer with ABC News’ Nightline. Before joining the team, she worked as a Booking Producer for ABC News Live and an Associate Producer for the Special Events team at ABC News, producing some of the most important and historical news stories - from the Democratic debates, the Impeachment House Hearing, and Senate trial of President Donald Trump, State of the Union and the 2020 election cycle.

Davi started her career at ABC News as the David Jayne Fellow in the London bureau, awarded to a student who shows enormous potential at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and includes a job working in an overseas bureau of ABC News. During her time in the Foreign Desk, Davi reported on many breaking news stories including the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the terror attacks in France and Kenya for all platforms, both in and outside the field. After completing the fellowship, she worked for ABC News in Cucuta, Colombia covering the crisis in Venezuela.

Davi graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she received her B.A. in Forensic Psychology. She received a Master’s Degree with a specialization in Documentary Filmmaking from Columbia Journalism School where she co-directed, produced, shot and edited a short documentary exploring how art can help immigrant teenagers adapt to life in the United States. The documentary was awarded the Fred M. Hechinger Education Journalism Award. She is fluent in Spanish.
